Pentangular Cup: Jamshed’s ton puts Punjab on top
Balochistan enjoy edge over Federal Areas in Pentangular Cup.
Nasir Jamshed cracked 131 as Punjab seized control of their fourth-round Pentangular Cup match against Sindh, finishing day two on 341 for six, having gained a lead of 116.
According to details provided by the Pakistan Cricket Board, Punjab resumed on 59 for no loss having dismissed Sindh for 225 in their first-innings. Jamshed was in full flow, hitting 16 boundaries in his 195-ball knock to lead the hosts’ charge. He was given good support by Mohammad Saad, who made a patient 59 off 106 deliveries. Usman Salahuddin was unbeaten on 57 at close, having stroked 10 boundaries during his innings.
For Sindh, fast-bowler Tanvir Ahmed toiled hard to claim three for 95, while Faraz Ahmed picked up two for 50.
Haider, Anwar star for Balochistan
Elsewhere, in an action-packed day that saw 16 wickets fall, Balochistan took control of their match against Federal Areas, having gained a lead of 182 in their second-innings.
Balochistan resumed on 223 for eight and lost their last two wickets for just six runs as Sadaf Hussain and Rao Iftikhar finished with four wickets each. In reply, Federal Areas struggled to come to terms with Balochistan’s bowling and were dismissed for 185. Rizwan Haider picked up a five-wicket haul. Awais Zia top-scored with 39.
Balochistan’s second-innings was dominated by Saeed Anwar who blasted a 73-ball 79 as his team reached 138 for four at close. Ifitkhar was again among the wickets with a three-wicket haul.
