Army and Punjab qualified for the semi-finals of the National Women Netball Championship after recording convincing wins at the tournament.
Army beat Punjab 17-3 and then downed LGS 20-10, while Punjab defeated Islamabad 20-1 to go through to the next round of the tournament underway at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Defending champions Sindh remained on track for a place in the last-four as well, beating Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 13-11 and edging out Wapda 11-9.
The hosts, on the other hand, experienced mixed fortunes as they lost to LGS 10-6 before prevailing over Fata 10-3.
In other matches, Wapda defeated HEC 17-16, while Islamabad outplayed Fata 11-2 and Punjab beat Islamabad 20-1. HEC thrashed Balochistan 19-7 in their second match.
According to the Pakistan Netball Federation Secretary Mudassir Arain, the top-performing players will be shortlisted for the national squad that will participate in the Southern Skies Netball Tournament in Australia later this year.
