KARACHI: Every hospital in the country must have an infection control society with written protocol about the handling of infections caused by surgeries, said speakers at a seminar organised by the Pakistan Medical Association on Monday. Dr Nazli Hossain, of the obstetrics and gynecology department of Civil hospital, said that infections were a major cause of death among pregnant women. Most of them get infected during labour. “We may be helpless when deliveries take place at home but can do something about the labour rooms in hospitals,” said Hossain.
