Disaster Management: Units to be established in every district
A day-long “Consultative Workshop on Disaster Risk Management (DRM), Needs and Plans” was held in K-P
PESHAWAR:
District Disaster Management Units (DDMU) have been established in every district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
This was said by Asghar Ali, Director Administration, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Monday, while addressing a day-long “Consultative Workshop on Disaster Risk Management (DRM), Needs and Plans”.
PDMA is in the process of establishing a Provincial Emergency Operation Centre, which will be centrally connected with DDMUs, providing information to PDMA regarding rescues, relief and rehabilitation activities. Mobile DDMUs will also be introduced for the first time in the country, which will offer their services during and after disasters.
Zaibun Nisa, Director DRM NDMA gave a presentation on Multi-Hazard Contingency Planning for reducing the frequency of disasters in Pakistan.
