Strike called off: OPDs to reopen on Monday
JAC of federal hospitals called off the month-long strike after PM Gilani intervened.
ISLAMABAD:
The outpatient departments at the three major public hospitals in Islamabad will reopen from Monday. The joint action committee (JAC) of federal hospitals called off the month-long strike after Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani announced one additional basic pay to doctors and paramedical staff of federal government hospitals. The announcement applied to all health professionals and non-medical staff who opted to remain under the Basic Pay Scale structure. JAC spokesperson Manzar Abbas Naqvi told The Express Tribune that the committee wholeheartedly welcomes the PM’s initiative, even though it is not what they had actually demanded. “We demanded one running salary, but the PM have given one additional basic pay. Besides this we demanded time frame promotion among others and this is also not included in what PM has announced,” he said.
