The event is being held after a successful TEDxLahore 2009 event last year and another successful TEDx event in Karachi which focused on What Pakistan Needs Now.
TED (Technology, Education, Design) is a US-based non-profit organisation that holds conferences across the world showcasing experts. TEDx is designed to give communities the opportunity to inspire and share at independently organised events. It calls itself an organisation devoted to ideas worth spreading. The local, self-organised events are branded TEDx where x signifies and independently organised event. It brings together speakers aiming to spark discussion and connection in a small group.
TED is a place where “ideas are free of context,” said Asim Fayyaz, one of the organisers of the event while speaking on the Morning Show on Express 24/7. “This means that the idea is not dependent on where it is coming from and can be applied anywhere.”
