LAHORE:

Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Aurangzeb on Thursday dismissed a pre-arrest bail application by stage actress Fatima Hussain alias Afreen after she could not establish that the complainant had falsely implicated her in a fraud case.

Hussain had filed a pre-arrest bail contending that the complainant in the case against her had registered a case to harass and blackmail her.

She said she was innocent and had nothing to do with the case. The petitioner’s counsel said that his client belonged to a respectable family and was ready to furnish bail bonds to the satisfaction of this court.

After hearing both sides, the judge dismissed the plea stating that there was apparently sufficient material on record to connect the petitioner with the commission of offence.

The judge said that the petitioner was specifically named in the FIR with specific allegation of receiving a huge amount, misappropriated by a co-accused, Atif Zia.

The complainant Asif Ali said that he owned a jewellery shop at Shah Alam Market.

He said that the accused had misappropriated Rs8 million through forged receipts.
