Traders seek extension in shop timings

Leaders of business community have urged the government to lift the law demanding closure of shops by 8pm in Ramazan.

LAHORE:
Leaders of business community have urged the government to lift the law demanding closure of shops by 8pm in Ramazan.

According to a handout issued here on Friday, if the trading community is allowed to do business late in the night during Ramazan, it would not only be a great compensation to the already recession-hit business community, but would be a big favour to the masses who would be able to make purchases even after Taraveeh prayers.

This joint statement was issued by LCCI.

Allowing traders to continue business late in the night would not only be a nice Ramazan package, but it would also ensure some relief to the workers associated with big shopping malls as they would be working extra hours earning some extra money for their families, they said.

They said as far as electricity consumption is concerned, the government could ask the trading community to open shops a little late in the morning.
