HARIPUR: An office-bearer of the district chapter of the ruling Awami National Party (ANP) was arrested on charges of possessing fake currency notes worth Rs4.5 million on Monday evening. Acting on a tip-off, the city police intercepted a car (SK 460) near Tank Chowk on GT Road and seized 8,500 fake currency notes of Rs500 amounting to Rs4.25 million. Police also arrested ANP’s KP-50 Haripur constituency president Syed Akhtar Shah along with two of his accomplices, Mushtaq Elahi and Asim Iqbal. The police registered a case and started investigations.
