At least three workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were gunned down on Monday night outside the bazaar in North Karachi, said Bilal Colony police. This is the latest in what appear to be tit-for-tat killings that have left at least 25 men dead in January.
The victims were in a black jeep when they were ambushed by men on motorcycles. They were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead. A score of workers and supporters reached the hospital.
The victims were identified as Adnan Ali of New Karachi, Nizamuddin alias Adil of Orangi Town and Irfan alias Shahrukh. They were aged between 25 and 30 years. A passenger bus was also reportedly set on fire near Yousuf Plaza in Gulberg in reaction. Earlier, Sunni Tehreek men and Ahle Tasheeh community members were targeted as were Pakistan Peoples Party members.
