Robbers on a rampage: 17 robberies reported in 24 hours

Locals have protested against police for not curbing theft.

FAISALABAD: Citizens were deprived of valuables including six motorcycles, one kilogramme gold, cash, jewellery and cell phones in 17 robberies throughout the city on Saturday and Sunday.

Former district administration member Sarfaraz was injured in an assault at his house in Chak No244 by 12 robbers who stole Rs5 million and one kilogramme gold at gunpoint. Meanwhile, Ashfaq was deprived of a motorcycle, cash and a cell phone in Raza Abad and Zeeshan’s motorcycle was stolen near Shami Chowk. Valuables including gold jewellery and a cell phone were taken away from Abdul Latif’s house in Madanpura and Maqsood’s house in Chak No64-JB.

Valuables worth thousands of rupees were stolen from Kamran in Chak No230RB; from Ghulam Razzaq in Muhammad Ali Town; from Irfan in Nishatabad; from Shahbaz on Kashmir Road; from Babar on Canal Road and from Shahbaz in Mansoorabad. In similar incidents, Javaid Ahmad was deprived of cash and a cell phone in Chak No200-RB, Naheed Akhtar of cash and a cell phone in Chak No353-GB, Rafiq of cash, three-tolas of gold jewellery and a cell phone in Lundianwala, Munawwar Husain of a motorcycle, cash and cell phone on Canal Road, Riyasat of cash and cell phone in Chak No188-RB. Nine electrical batteries were also stolen from a cell phone tower in Mughalpura. Locals in the area protested against police for not stopping theft incidents. Police  have registered separate cases against the accused.
