Judicial Appointments: Govt mulls confirmation of 8 judges’ services

The federal government is considering the confirmation of the services of eight additional judges of Lahore and Sindh high courts, and has also sought reports from intelligence agencies in this regard, The Express Tribune has learnt.


The parliamentary committee on judges’ appointment is due to review the proposal for the confirmation of additional judges on January 30.


The eight judges include four from the Lahore High Court (LHC) – Justice Syed Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Muhammad Farrukh Irfan Khan, Justice Mamoon Rasheed Sheikh and Justice Muhammad Yawar Ali – and as many from the Sindh High Court (SHC) – Justice Nisar Sheikh, Justice Muhammad Tasneem, Justice Syed Hussain Azahr Rizvi and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar.

The parliamentary panel has already seen the names of all of these judges.

The government has assigned the task of presenting a detailed report on an urgent basis to brief the parliamentary committee, a source told The Express Tribune.
