KARACHI:

In consideration of those in need of legal assistance, lawyers will go back to work from January 30, said Karachi Bar Association (KBA) honorary secretary Khalid Mumtaz, while referring to their protest after three lawyers were gunned down on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBAP) president, Muhammad Yasin Khan Azad, and KBA president, Mehmood-ul-Hasan, demanded arrests and had announced an indefinite strike from the beginning of the week.

The government’s failure to maintain law and order has been established but in the given conditions, an indefinite strike would serve no purpose, said Mumtaz.

According to sources at the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA), work is likely to resume at the Sindh High Court from Monday as well. They added that the SHCBA would respond to calls from apex bodies, such as the Pakistan Bar Council and SCBAP.
