Research: Consultants being hired to study Indian market

TDAP engaging consultants to study the potential of Pakistan products in the Indian market

The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is engaging consultants to study the potential of Pakistan products in the Indian market and examine tariff structure vis-a-vis other competitors, says TDAP chief executive.

“Findings of the consultants will be shared with stakeholders,” said Tariq Puri while speaking at an interactive session with trade regulators of India at TDAP here on Friday. Representatives of Pakistan’s business community were also present.

Puri explained recent progress on trade normalisation between Pakistan and India. In this regard, a comprehensive customs agreement is being finalised, which will have a mechanism for expeditious clearance of cargo, sharing of trade laws, customs valuation and setting up a joint border liaison committee.

Moreover, an agreement is being finalised to harmonise standards while the Indian government is in the process of introducing a more liberal visa regime.
