LIBREVILLE:
Ivory Coast’s quest for a second Africa Cup of Nations 20 years after their lone title received a boost when Didier Drogba’s Elephants marched into the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win over Burkina Faso. Drogba crossed for Chelsea teammate Salomon Kalou to score from close range in the 16th minute, with Bakary Kone heading in an own goal in the closing stages to eliminate Burkina Faso from the last-eight race. “There are areas which we need to improve, but we’re progressing step by step,” said Ivory Coast manager Francois Zahoui.
