Pak-Afghan Border: Lifeline for extremists throttled

US deny financing or providing material support to alleged Islamic extremists.

WASHINGTON:
The United States moved on Thursday to deny any US financing or material support to alleged Islamic extremists operating in Afghanistan, Europe and Lebanon. The State Department targeted brothers Yassin and Mounir Chouka, who it said are recruiters, facilitators and propagandists for the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) and stage operations along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. It also targeted Mevlut Kar as a facilitator and recruiter for the Islamic Jihad Union (IJU). It said he is implicated in a 2007 bomb plot targeting US military facilities and US citizens in Germany.
