KARACHI:

A division bench of the Sindh High Court comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Nisar M Shaikh restrained on Wednesday the Sindh government and SESSI (Sindh Employees Social Security Institution) from finalising any appointments.

The bench was hearing a petition filed by the United Labour Federation, a registered federation of trade unions.

It has been contended by the petitioner that the governing body of SESSI has been illegally constituted and inductions are being processed on the basis of advertisements in which it has not been disclosed that appointments are being intended for SESSI.

It was also contended that the mala fide process of appointments and illegally created vacancies are beyond adequate budgetary measures, which shall cause a colossal loss to the exchequer.

Barrister Mohammad Farough Naseem represented the petitioners. The hearing was later put off till February 2.
