A young lover ended his life by jumping into the Indus River from the Kotri Bridge after his family opposed his intention to marry a mother of three children.
As per details, the jilted lover, identified as 22-year-old Farid Khan, son of Furqan Khan, was pillion-riding with his father on a motorcycle when he suddenly got down near the bridge and leaped into the river.
Local police said on the basis of preliminary investigation that Farid had been persistently asking his parents to allow him to marry the woman, leading to a heated argument with his father moments before the tragedy.
A Rescue 1122 team immediately launched a search operation, but the darkness of the night hindered their efforts. After an hour of intensive searching the next morning, divers retrieved Farid's body, which was subsequently shifted to the Civil Hospital Jamshoro for medico-legal formalities before being handed over to the family.
The victim's father told police that Farid had been adamant about marrying the woman despite the family objections.
Police say they are investigating the matter further, though initial reports suggest no foul play was involved.
