‘Peace in Kurram Agency at all costs’

Governor Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Barrister Masood Kausar on Wednesday said that peace in Kurram Agency will be maintained at all costs, urging all stakeholders to be watchful of elements attempting to sabotage peace in the region.
Kausar stated this while presiding over a meeting of the Grand Peace Jirga of Kurram Agency at the Governor’s House.
The meeting reviewed the security situation in the region and discussed measure to further promote peace between warring factions.
“The miscreants will be taken to task without discrimination and efforts for lasting peace and sectarian harmony will continue,” said Kausar. He said that restoration of peace and opening of Thall-Teri Mengal road for commuters were remarkable achievements made possible because by the hectic efforts of the peace jirga, both Sunni and Shia elders, political administration and law enforcement agencies.
He stressed the need for improving intelligence operations in the agency to pre-empt criminal activities. He assured the jirga that all directives he had issued and announcements made during his visit to Parachinar will be implemented.
Jirga members stressed the need for early rehabilitation of the affected people, revival of commercial activities and resolving the problem of power outages in the region.
