Sibling slaughter: Man shoots two sisters
Mumtaz Bibi died on the spot, Kallan is fighting for her life.
FAISALABAD:
A young man shot and killed his sister and injured his younger sister over a domestic dispute on Wednesday.
According to police officials, Chak No217-RB resident Munawwar Khan shot and killed his sister Mumtaz Bibi, 30, for marrying of her own free will. When his younger sister Kallan Bibi, 20, supported their sister’s decision, he also shot her.
“We heard gun shots and immediately rushed to the scene to find both sisters on the floor,” said Mumtaz’s neighbour Munazza. “I asked my husband to take them both the hospital but Mumtaz died on the way,” she said. Local residents told police officials that Munawwar killed his sisters over a property dispute. “I don’t know about the sister’s marriage but I know that they had a long standing dispute because both sisters refused to hand over their property to him,” said the uncle of the accused, Hashim Khan.
Hospital officials at the DHQ hospital said that Kallan Bibi was in critical condition. “She has sustained serious bullet injuries and is on a respirator. She was shot in the abdomen and the leg. We are doing everything we can to make sure she recovers,” said Dr Sadiq. Police have registered a case and started investigation. The accused, Munawwar, fled the scene and police are searching for his whereabouts.
