Netted: Gang of female swindlers sent on judicial remand
The suspects are wanted in multiple swindling cases in a number of police stations.
ISLAMABAD:
They finally ended up in jail. Five female swindlers, wanted for depriving commuters of jewellery, were sent on judicial remand on Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday, the Aabpara police said they had apprehended the women and recovered gold ornaments from their possession.
According to a police official investigating the case, the suspects, who “were trained professionally to commit the crime”, would board a public bus from the outskirts of the city and target mostly women from villages. The bus from which they were arrested was coming from Rawat.
“They would sit next to the target and start a drama during the journey. They would also eat some emetic agent and start vomiting,” explained the official.
“The commuters would start panicking in such a situation, during which they would take away gold bangles with the help of a cutter,” he added.
The gang was busted when one of the suspects was nabbed by passengers and handed over to the Aabpara police, who then arrested her accomplices.
The suspects are wanted in multiple cases of similar nature in different police stations.
