Inter-collegiate talent competition: Students show their mettle in Qirat, Naat

14 girls’ colleges from the twin cities are participating in the competition.

To break away from the humdrum of routine, an inter-collegiate talent competition was organised here at Margalla Post-Graduate College for Girls on Monday. The event attracted as many as 14 colleges from the twin cities.


The four-day event involves multi-lingual debates, poster, Naat, Qirat and flower arrangement competitions.

On the first day, the students demonstrated their talent in Qirat and Naat. They also presented delectable flower arrangements.

About 13 colleges participated in Qirat and Naat competitions each. The college hall echoed as the students recited Quranic verses and Naats. The chief guest at the ceremony was International Islamic University Islamabad Arabic department head Professor Dr Habibur Rehman.


The jury for Qirat competition comprised Qari Ikhlaq Madni, Qari Eshsaanullah and Qari Mohammad Nouman. The first prize went to Ammara Aziz of Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) F-7/2, the second prize went to Iqra Barkat from the host college and the third prize went to Mutahira Qazi of IMCG G-10/2. The consolation prize was shared by Hina Noreen of Government College for Women Peshawar Road, and Aisha Arif of IMCG I-8/3.

In the Naat competition, the first prize went to Fatima Yasmeen of IMCG G-10/4, the second prize went to Fouzia Ahmad Government College for Women, Peshawar Road, the third prize went to Iraj Fatima of FG Post Graduate (PG) Kashmir Road and the consolation prize went to Sana Ishaq of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation College.

Nine colleges participated in the flower arrangement competitions.

In the fresh flower arrangement competition, the first prize went to Fatima Masood IMCG PG F-7/2, the second to Saumeen Iftikhar ICG, F-6/2. For the third position, there was a tie between   Saima Noor of IMCG F-7/4 and Palwasha Khan of the same college.

For the dry flower arrangement competition, the first position went to Bushra Siddique of IMCG PG F-7/4, the second to Fatima Zehra of IMCG PG F-7/2, and the third prize went to Mahnoor of IMCG PG G-10/4.  The consolation prize was clinched by Shumila Qamar of FG college Kashmir Road Rawalpindi.
