Abduction: Plea for case against PML-N MPA
MPA denies allegations, says petition a ploy to delay repayment.
LAHORE:
Additional District and Sessions Judge Arif Hameed Shaikh on Monday directed the Shadman station house officer (SHO) to submit a reply by January 27 on a petition seeking the registration of a case against PML-Nawaz MPA Mohsin Latif for alleged abduction.
Petitioner Mian Nazeer contended that on January 22, Latif and others abducted him at gunpoint from Shadman Chowk on Jail Road and took him to the nearby Touchwood Furniture, which is owned by the MPA. He was then tied up with ropes and forced to sign blank papers, he said. Around three hours later, he was released with a warning that if he told anyone of the incident, he would face dire consequences, he said.
Nazeer said he tried to lodge a complaint at Shadman police station but the SHO did not listen to him. He asked the court to direct the SHO to register a case against Latif.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Latif denied the charges. He said that the petitioner had owed a man named Shahid Latif Rs2.2 million for three years and he had called them both to his office on January 22 to reach a settlement.
“I told him [the petitioner] that he would face legal proceedings if he did not return the money.
That is all. This petition is only meant to stop me from doing that,” he said.
