Indian leader and Gandhi family scion Rahul Gandhi has joined the ranks of former US president George W Bush and Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari after a shoe was hurtled at him, Indian television channel NDTV reported on Monday.
Gandhi, general secretary of the ruling Congress party and a member of the Indian parliament, was addressing a rally in Vikasnagar, a town in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand.
The shoe fell 10 meters short of Gandhi, Dehra Dun Senior Superintendent of Police GN Goswami told the Press Trust of India news agency.
The man who threw the shoe, identified as Kuldip, was immediately taken into custody, Goswami said, adding that he was being interrogated.
