Policemen beat up lawyer
KARACHI:
The policemen stationed at the Karachi city courts have beaten up a lawyer within court premises on Thursday.
The victim, lawyer Javed Channa, told the media that he arrived at the courts to attend a hearing but the policemen at the main gate did not allow him to enter. They hurled abuse at him and then started beating him up. Channa lost his teeth and his clothes were also drenched in blood after the encounter.
Members of the Karachi Bar Council surrounded the city court police station after the incident and started protesting against the police.
A case has been registered on the application of Channa against the nominated policemen, Mumtaz, Asim and Yasin. The lawyer has been shifted to a hospital. The police have taken the accused into custody.
