Till death do us part: Man sentenced to death for killing wife

Couple had been getting into frequent rows before the incident and he had been trying to reconcile them.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Hamid Hussain on Saturday handed the death sentence to a man convicted of murdering his wife  Riasat Ali had killed Shahnaz alias Shazia, his wife of six years and mother of his two children, in front of her father Muhammad Bashir in October 2005, the court had heard.


Bashir had testified that Ali repeatedly stabbed Shazia with a dagger when he was visiting them at their home in Badami Bagh police jurisdiction and then fled. Shazia later died from her injuries in hospital.

Bashir said that the couple had been getting into frequent rows before the incident and he had been trying to reconcile them.

The judge also fined Ali Rs200,000. In case of non-payment, the convict will face an extra six months in prison.
