KARACHI: It has been three months since 19,000 ex-employees of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) were paid their pensions, said officials on Thursday. With over 36,000 employees, KMC needs at least Rs1 billion every month for salaries. A representative of the employees’ union, Syed Zulfiqar Shah, said the government has promised to give Rs850 million to KMC every month. “This is less than our requirement of Rs1 billion and we have been asked to raise the remaining amount from our own resources,” he said.
