Boxing: Pacquiao camp quashes mega May fight

Arum insisted that it did not make sense financially for Pacquiao and Mayweather to fight on May 5.

LOS ANGELES:
Manny Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has said that the next time the Filipino superstar steps into the ring it will not be against unbeaten American Floyd Mayweather. Arum insisted that it did not make sense financially for Pacquiao and Mayweather to fight on May 5, the date that the US boxer has insisted on. “Economically, it is a problem that Floyd has created,” said Arum. “The amount that would be lost by moving it to May 5 is enormous.” Arum said the 33-year-old would fight next on June 9 in Las Vegas against an unspecified opponent. Arum is now looking at a possible November showdown between Pacquiao and Mayweather.
