People don’t care about immunity, but their money in Swiss banks: Nawaz Sharif

Talking to Express News, PML-N chief says that everyone saw suitcases being transferred to Switzerland overnight.

LAHORE:
Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that the people of the country do not care about President Asif Ali Zardari’s immunity, but are more bothered about their money that was transferred to the Swiss banks.

Talking to anchor Javed Chaudhry in an interview with Express News, Sharif said that money was transferred overnight into Swiss banks.

“The nation should get its money back.”

Commenting on the government’s stance on writing letters to Swiss authorities to reopen graft cases against Zardari, Sharif said: “Letters should have been written as soon as the Supreme Court’s orders were released. The court has been reiterating it, but they [government] are making excuses and violating the orders.”

Sharif also criticised the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), saying that there were differing statements within the party regarding the president’s immunity. “Some say he has immunity, some say he doesn’t.”

He also lambasted Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan who represented Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani during his contempt of court hearing today and said: “He [Ahsan] had played his role in freeing the judiciary and fulfilled his national duty, but today he has changed his statement.”
