Palm-Greasing: Sub-engineer sent on judicial remand
A complaint from Ibrahim Satti, a contractor in Murree, that the engineer had demanded Rs5,000 for approval of bills.

A sub-engineer of district government was sent to Adiala Jail on judicial remand after he was arrested on charges of accepting bribe from a private contractor. The civil engineer was produced before the court by officials of the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE). ACE Inspector Asif Bhatti told The Express Tribune that they received a complaint from Ibrahim Satti, a contractor in Murree, that the engineer had demanded Rs5,000 for approval of bills. On Tuesday evening, ACE officials, along with Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Yousaf, raided the office of District Works Department on Murree Road and arrested the suspect. The official said they also recovered the marked currency notes from the engineer, which they had given to the contractor to pay to the suspect.
