Gone : OGRA chairman resigns
“Ogra is the most disorganised intuitions where nobody is willing to take actions and implement decisions,” Chairman.
ISLAMABAD:
Acting Chairman of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Sabir Hussain has resigned from his position on Wednesday due to a ‘lack of discipline’ of the subordinate staff of the Ogra.
“Ogra is the most disorganised intuitions where nobody is willing to take actions and implement decisions,” he told The Express Tribune adding “I have requested the Cabinet Division to relieve me of my duty as Chairman Ogra.
“However, I will continue performing duty of Member Oil,” he said adding that he had formed some committees to ensure transparency in different matters but these committees have not become active. “The authority has approved professional allowance but officials of Ogra do not deserve it and it should be abolished,” he said.
When asked to comment on this development Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain said that Ogra officials belonged to the old school of thought. “Ogra is not proactive in facilitating the import of LNG and as a regulator Ograr is playing the role of spoiler rather than facilitator to improve the oil and gas sectors’” he added.
Meanwhile, the search for a new Ogra chairman goes on.
