Polish ambassador in Peshawar: Envoy wants Taliban ‘part of settlement’

Situation in Afghanistan is much better than previous years, says Polish ambassador.

Although it is not an ‘ideal situation’ to leave Afghanistan in 2014 but the decision has been made in light of public opinion, said Poland’s Ambassador to Pakistan Andrzej Ananicz. The ambassador who visited the Peshawar press club said that the situation in Afghanistan is much better than previous years but they were not ideal circumstances. “It is what the Afghan people wanted,” he said. Ananicz also said that the Taliban should be a part of any political settlement in Afghanistan. With regard to the murder of Polish engineer Piotr Stanczak, he said that the prosecutors of the Polish government had ‘limited success’ and the two men who were in custody of the authorities were released due to lack of evidence.
