Formula One: Overtaking zones to be tweaked
The FIA has plans to introduce slight alterations to overtaking zones at some venues.
LONDON:
The FIA has plans to introduce slight alterations to overtaking zones at some venues, while not making drastic changes to the Drag Reduction System (DRS) rules. The changes will extend the zones where overtaking is perceived to be too hard while shortening zones where passing is deemed to be too easy. In addition to alterations of length, a second DRS zone will be introduced at the Australian Grand Prix, while a zone each is expected to be removed from the Canada and Valencia circuits, according to informed sources. While the DRS has received its share of criticism since its introduction in 2011, it has been widely welcomed by F1 enthusiasts as an innovation that makes races more exciting.
