Demands to expel non-Sindhis from Sindh should be stopped as they just fuel hatred and could lead to a civil war-like situation, urged former Sindh education minister, Hamida Khuhro, on Sunday.
She was speaking at a conference on the role Sindh played for the Lahore Resolution.
The event was held at the Basant Hall on the occasion of the 108th birthday of GM Syed, a veteran politician. She urged that all the people of Sindh needed to be united on a single-point agenda.
“The British government used all the leaders of the sub-continent, including Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi and Patel,” she maintained.
The famous Sindhi intellectual, Taj Joyo, said that GM Syed was the man of principle. “Pakistan is the name of the federation and Sindh is its province.” He said that out of 60, just 27 members of the Sindh Assembly, who attended the session in 1943, supported the creation of Pakistan.
