Swedish politician: ‘Democracy alone can guarantee prosperity’
Pakistani-born Swedish politician says Pakistan youth’s opinion had so far been ignored by those in positions of power

There is a positive change in the attitude towards politics among the youth in Pakistan who are seeking to bring about a change in the country, Pakistani-born Swedish politician Nasim Malik has said.
Malik said in Pakistan youth’s opinion about the affairs of the country had so far been ignored by those in positions of power. He praised the social welfare system in Sweden and said that education and employment generation were priorities for the Swedish government.
Malik is a member of the Swedish parliament from Kalmar and president of Social Democrat Party’s international wing.
He said he had been following Pakistani politics through the media and the unrest among the people due to the energy crisis, rising unemployment and inflation and the law and order situation. He said Pakistani people should understand that democratic governance alone can guarantee prosperity. He said a strong local government system could help extend democratic dividends to the grassroots level and empower people.
