Tennis: Hingis rejects Federer’s proposal
Hingis has turned down an offer to come out of retirement for the London Olympics, said compatriot Roger Federer.
MELBOURNE:
Former world number one Martina Hingis has turned down an offer to come out of retirement for the London Olympics, said compatriot Roger Federer. The world number three called the tennis queen with the idea of partnering her for the upcoming Olympics, which would have been a dream pairing for Swiss fans, before being turned down. “I wanted to see what was her feeling,” said Federer. “She was the one to basically tell me I should focus on winning singles and defending my doubles.” Federer won the 2008 Olympics men’s doubles gold with Stanislas Wawrinka.
