Unkept Promises: Social Security doctors want pay raise

Six months passed and the 1800 doctors working in PSSD have not been given the pay raise announced by CM Sharif.

The Social Security Doctors’ Association (SSDA) office bearers on Friday announced that they would hold a general body meeting of the association on Saturday (today) to discuss their concerns about their pay raise.



Dr Safdar Hussain Baloch, the SSDA general secretary, said that despite a lapse of six months, the 1,800 doctors working in the Punjab Social Security Department have not been given the pay raise announced for them by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

He expressed his concerns over the situation, saying that the chief minister had announced a Rs15,000-Rs10,000 health professionals allowance for medical officers and consultants respectively and Rs6,000 and Rs20,000 for house officers and post graduate trainees, respectively.
