Country to 'return to normal within a week': Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain

PML-Q chief holds meeting with PPP's Qamar Zaman Kaira, dismiss possibility of a clash-of-institution.

ISLAMABAD:
President Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Thursday expects that the tensions seen to be rising recently will all probably “return to normal within a week,” after having a meeting with a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) delegation in Islamabad on Thursday.

The PPP delegation, lead by Qamar Zaman Kaira met with the PML-Q leadership ahead of an important National Assembly session which may see the Opposition move a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.

Following the meeting, as they addressed a joint press conference, Kaira said that everything was under control. He added that there would be no clash of institutions as heightened tension between the government and the military and the Supreme Court threatens the PPP government.

“What tensions you see now, we have agreed to defuse it according to law and the constitution. It is being painted as a clash of institutions but it really is not,” Kaira said.

PML-Q chief, Chaudhry Shujaat  said that while most people think that the government would not survive, this shall not come to pass, and "within a week, everything will be back to normal."

He said that there wasn’t a ‘point-of-no-return’ in politics, and that they would solve all issues.

Replying to a question, he said that the problems cannot be resolved by taking to the streets. He said that all the issues can be resolved only through negotiation.

Responding to another question, he said they are part of the government and added that being a coalition partner his party will support the government.
