Fitness of things: Order reserved on CJ’s oath

LAHORE:

Justice Muhammad Khalid Mahmood Khan of Lahore High Court on Thursday reserved his order on maintainability of a petition challenging oath of new LHC Chief Justice Shaikh Azmat Saeed administered by Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa.

Justice Khan heard the petition as objection case as the LHC registrar’s office had put an objection on the petitioner that he had no locus standi to file this petition because he was not an aggrieved person. The petitioner submitted that a case against Khosa’s appointment as the governor was pending before the court therefore he could not administer the oath to a CJ. He also questioned the presence of Shahbaz Sharif at the oath taking ceremony saying his acquittal in Sabzazar case was also challenged.
