Palm-Greasing: Teacher accuses clerical staff of graft
The DCO has ordered the executive district officer to probe the issue and submit a complete report to him.
HARIPUR:
A teacher has accused two clerks in the education department of taking graft from her to upgrade her basic pay scale (BPS). Zakia Bibi, the head teacher of Government Girls Primary School Dartiyan, Khanpur, stated in an application to the district coordination officer (DCO) that Ashraf and Shafique had demanded Rs81,000 from her to upgrade her BPS, which she had paid. She said she had been serving in the education department for the last 20 years in BPS-7. When she approached the district education officer, she was referred to the clerical staff, who told her they would make new entries in the service book entitling her to receive outstanding salary. However, despite fulfilling their demands, the clerks have not made the entries, on the pretext that her sevice book has been misplaced. She demanded legal action against the clerks and corrections in her service book. The DCO has ordered the executive district officer to probe the issue and submit a complete report to him.
