Govt cuts fee for CNG stations, oil companies

They have to deposit charges by the end of January.

ISLAMABAD: The government has scrapped some types of fee and reduced other charges for compressed natural gas (CNG) stations and petroleum companies and asked them to deposit the fee by the end of January.

The decision came after extensive deliberations and demand from CNG associations, petroleum companies and other stakeholders, said the Ministry of Industries in a statement. In this regard, a meeting was held on November 25, 2011 under the chairmanship of Aziz Ahmed Bilour, Secretary of Ministry of Industries.

The fee is charged by the Department of Explosives which comes under the Ministry of Industries.

The government has withdrawn fee on application scrutiny, tyre puncture shop, ATM, fax, PCO and lube or service station. Earlier, the annual fee on these was in the range of Rs500 to Rs10,000.

In addition to these, the fee on kit conversion shop has been reduced from Rs10,000 to Rs3,000 per annum, vehicle wash from Rs10,000 to Rs100, tuck shop from Rs15,000 to Rs7,500, petroleum licence per product from Rs5,000 to Rs3,000, CNG storage licence from Rs20,000 to Rs10,000, CNG filling station testing from Rs40,000 to Rs25,000 and re-inspection of CNG stations from Rs20,000 to Rs5,000. The fee on grant of fresh licence in place of expired licence has been cut to two times of the fee from three times.
