Squash: David, Shabana triumph at World Series
Malaysian star defeated Ireland’s Madeline Perry 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 in the Queen’s Club final.
LONDON:
World number one Nicol David captured the World Series Finals title when the Malaysian star defeated Ireland’s Madeline Perry 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 in the Queen’s Club final. David dropped just one game all week - in the semi-finals against Laura Massaro - and was too strong for world number three Perry in the final. “Winning the title is a great start to 2012 and having the top eight players here and contending for it makes it very special,” said the Malaysian. “I have felt good all week. Hopefully there’s more to come.” In the men’s event, four-time world champion Amr Shabana of Egypt defeated France’s Gregory Gaultier 6-11, 12-10, 11-7, 7-11, 11-8.
