Balochistan Assembly Speaker Aslam Bhootani announced on Sunday that he and his supporters would lay a siege to a private power plant in the Hub industrial town, located in Lasbela district to protest against the ‘discriminatory attitude’ of its management to local population.

He issued the threat while addressing a gathering in Hub on Sunday. People of Lasbela district complained that the private power company was recruiting ‘outsiders’ at the cost of local and indigenous people denying their inalienable rights.

Speaker Bhootani informed the people that he on several occasions raised this issue with the concerned officials but to not avail. He was referring to a huge power plant.

“The discriminatory attitude of management of the power plant has forced me to join the people in launching a protest campaign,” Bhootani said and announced that he would lead the people to besiege the plant.

He said that protest will continue until the grievances of local people are addressed by the company and it stops the discriminatory attitude against the indigenous people.
