Haripur Ambush: MPA escapes attempt on his life
A rocket was fired at his Parado jeep which luckily missed the target.
HARIPUR:
A lawmaker from the Awami National Party from Haripur, Gohar Nawaz Khan, escaped an attempt on his life Saturday afternoon. A rocket was fired at his Parado jeep which luckily missed the target, his gunmen and police said. Khan’s Private Secretary Hafeez Ahmed was gunned down along with a worker of the Tehsil Municipal Authority, last month. Goher Nawaz Khan, who is a member of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from PF 51 Haripur III, was returning home in Khalabat Township after offering condolences to provincial minister Qazi Muhammad Asad over the demise of his father-in-law at Sikandarpur when unknown assailants fired a rocket at his Parado jeep near the Shah Baba graveyard. Following the rocket fire, the assailants also fired a volley of gunshots at the vehicle. However, the rocket missed the target and the driver managed to drive the jeep to safety, according to police and Khan’s driver. All the people travelling in the vehicle remained unhurt. No case was registered till late in the night.
