LANDI KOTAL:
Security forces including police and Khasadar Force mistreat transporters and demand bribes from them, starting from Ring Road, Peshawar to Torkham border.
All Transport Union’s president Azeemullah Shinwari informed media persons that they would not allow further exploitation of transporters. Police and Khasadar Force personnel also resort to insult and abuse transporters if they refuse to give them unjustified bribes.
Union leaders warned they would resist against the corrupt Khasadar Force personnel and their officials if they forced drivers to pay bribes.
They also demanded that Governor Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masud Kausar take notice of the injustices suffered by transporters on the Pak-Afghan Highway.
They regretted that the main road was in very bad condition. They asked that the funds generated from transporters be spent on the reconstruction of the Pak-Afghan Highway. Any plots against the transport union would be foiled, the union leaders vowed.
