Police and security forces raided a house on a tip-off about Tariq, a suspected militant.

A police official was killed in a clash between the police and militants in a remote village in Mardan in the small hours of Friday.
Mardan police spokesperson Farman Ali told The Express Tribune that the incident took place in Changari village, where the police and security forces raided a house on a tip-off about Tariq, a suspected militant.
The militants opened fire on the police party, killing Zarnosh Khan, a police inspector, on the spot. During the crossfire, Tariq’s father Babar Khan was also injured, who later died of injuries.
The police also arrested Abid, Nadeem, Sardar Hussain and Javed, while Tariq and his brother Shah Wali managed to escape in the cover of darkness, said Ali.
The police came under attack when they were passing through fields in the village.
The police also claimed to have recovered three AK-47s, a gun and ammunition from the suspected militants’ possession during the raid.
