Hospitality: UAF welcomes 45 new foreign students

LUMS pro-vice chancellor will address UAF faculty, students today.

A ceremony was organised on Thursday to welcome 45 foreign students admitted to university’s degree programmes for the upcoming session.


The event was arranged by the International Club at the Old Senate Hall.

Principal Officer Students Affairs Prof Dr Mohammad Younis was the chief guest. Foreign Students’ Adviser Prof Dr Tahir Sidiqque, International Club president Sahibzada Mohibullah and General Secretary Obaidullah Rahimi were also present. Addressing the ceremony, Prof Mohammad Younis said the university was committed to providing quality education and state-of-the-art facilities at the campus.


He hoped foreign students would benefit from their stay at the university and utilise the knowledge they gain at the UAF on returning to their countries.

He said a women’s complex had been established at the university to facilitate women students. Prof Dr Tahir Sidiqque encouraged the students to learn the Pakistani languages to better understand the culture of the country.

Some newly-admitted foreign students also spoke on the occasion.

Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) pro-vice chancellor Syed Babar Ali will address the faculty members and students of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on January 7. He will first address a ceremony at the New Senate Hall and then at the Iqbal Auditorium.

A UAF spokesman said Babar Ali will brief the audience about his professional career. He would also share his experience of establishing LUMS in 1985.
