A car belonging to a senator of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and minister for ports and shipping, Babar Ghauri, was snatched by armed men on Friday while his daughter was busy shopping.

The blue Toyota Corolla was taken near the Stadium Road in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, which is within the jurisdiction of the Aziz Bhatti police station.

Ghauri told The Express Tribune that at least four armed men ambushed the driver and policeman accompanying his daughter.

The suspects beat them and drove off. Ghauri said that the criminals also snatched the sub-machine gun that the police guard was carrying.
