Samir cruises in Amman Open

Pakistan’s Samir Iftikhar defeated India’s Vishal Passi 6-4, 6-2 and cruised into the quarter-final of the second leg of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Amman Open Junior World Ranking Tournament 2.
The second seed broke Passi’s serve in the ninth game with impressive backhand passing shots and continued his dominance in the second set to seal the victory after breaking his opponent’s serve twice.
“After winning my first ITF Doubles Title last week, I shall try my best to win the singles title here and making country proud,” said Samir, who has improved his ITF rankings in eight months from 1300 to 312.
Samir will now face the winner of the other quarter-final between Turkey’s Cem Ilkel and Kuwait’s Mohammed Reda.
Earlier, Samir won his maiden title with his partner Sultan Zaid of Kuwait at the doubles event of the Amman Open Junior Ranking Tournament 1 on Saturday.
