Tauqir Zia lauds Zaka’s early initiatives
Former PCB chief advises critics to be patient with new chairman.
LAHORE:
Former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Tauqir Zia has lauded the efforts undertaken by current chief Zaka Ashraf to re-establish cordial ties with fellow boards.
Zia pointed out the relationship with the Bangladesh board, where Ashraf backed the appointment of Mustafa Kamal as the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) vice-president and also invited the team to tour Pakistan, as a healthy sign of things to come.
“I like the two steps he has taken – inviting Bangladesh and endorsing Kamal’s appointment,” said Zia.
“One must keep in mind the Indian dominance in the Asian council as well as the ICC and by strengthening Bangladesh in Asia, that dominance, one that is also destroying Pakistan cricket, can be reduced Zaka is doing a good job but we need to let him take his time to accomplish his visions for the sport in Pakistan.”
